The Spark Lamp was designed in response to the Swedish government’s plan to install smart meters in new homes to track energy consumption. Designer Beverly Ng created the solar-powered LED Spark Lamp as a decorative way to reduce energy consumption – but, perhaps more importantly, to let homeowners know of their daily energy use.

The 5-in-1 Shade was created by Jette Scheib and Neels Kattendidt for UK-based design firm Innermost. 5 in 1 comprises 7 simple flat sheets of polypropylene. From these parts you can make any one of 5 pendant lampshades by combining 3,4,5,6 or all 7 of the sheets. You can make the big wide form with all 7 or you could perhaps choose to make 2 lampshades, one with 3 pieces and one with 4.
