Yoga on a Stability Ball? [How You Can Do it At Home]

As if fitness balls weren’t useful enough as office chairs and strength-building workouts. Now, you can do yoga on them as well. Watch a few videos that show you how to get started with Stability Ball Yoga:

20-Minute Yoga on a Stability Ball:

I like this short video clip because it demonstrates how to incorporate breathing and abdominal work in a slow-motion meditative-type practice. This makes a great morning exercise routine.

Note: Another morning practice that I like is lymphatic brushing. In just a few minutes, you can stimulate blood flow and natural body detoxing. Try it after you stretch or right before you shower.

Why I Think Fitness Balls Work So Well:

Do you feel sore or stiff when you get out of the bed in the morning? Do you want to start a meditation practice without having to sit still on a cushion? Then you will really like doing yoga on a stability ball (especially when you can workout at home!).

Stability balls work at increasing the intensity of the movements without adding more impact. Therefore, they provide great tools for people who suffer from joint pain, who lack flexibility or who are recovering from injuries.

I personally like doing yoga on a stability ball because I don’t have to set aside an hour for a class. For example, I can do a few movements or stretches at a time if I only have 10 minutes to spare and get a short exercise ball workout in.

Low Impact Home Workouts with No Equipment Needed:

Two big advantages to exercising at home come down to cost and convenience. Typically, you can do home exercise programs anywhere, anytime. Plus, with a low impact home workout, you can start immediately, no matter what level you’re at.

However, many aerobics videos, jump rope and even calisthenics like jumping jacks are high impact. If you have bad knees, a painful back or are trying to recover from an injury, these workouts aren’t easy on the joints. They simply won’t give you any benefits.

Check out this video here. It includes an entire body workout that is low impact and doesn’t require any additional equipment. Best of all – you can watch it online for free right now.

Don’t be deceived – low impact workouts aren’t necessarily easy. Many programs will involve engaging the core, which not only burns calories but can improve posture, relieve lower back pain and even get you out of breath.

This next video focuses on building core strength. It also doesn’t require additional equipment, and you can do it at home. It runs about 30 minutes, so you can get a good strength-building and stretching routine before you go into the office in the morning or in the evening while you are watch TV.

Consider a Low Impact Stair Stepper

Another idea is the Sunny Health & Fitness Mini Stepper with Resistance Bands. I actually have one of these. For such a simple-looking device, it’s surprising good at helping to improve balance in addition to giving your arms a great workout.

The steppers themselves don’t go very high, so it’s easier than climbing a bunch of stairs. However, it’s a great machine for using in front of the TV or while you are talking on the phone – plus it’s light enough that you can pick it up and carry it anywhere.

Regularly moving your body in a variety of different movements will help keep your body more flexible and joints fluid. Sitting all day at a desk or poor sleeping positions can make a significant impact on your body over time. Simply moving more can work wonders. Just try an exercise ball workout!
